Great Expectations

In my quest for the perfect black flats, which equated to hours of online shopping, I stumbled across the Alexis Bittar Miss Havisham collection -- the most gorgeous Victorian era inspired, edgy vintage stuff!

Every piece is a statement piece...

Rose gold wavy bangle

The art-deco movement heavily influenced Bittar's Delano group in the Miss Havisham collection, and this motif in particular is designed to be evocative of the Chrysler building. Brilliant!

Truth be told, I probably was a little swayed the moment I saw the name of the collection alone. Dickens' Pip from Great Expectations has always been one of my favorite literary characters, and the book would be nothing without the wealthy, haunting spinster, Miss Havisham.

Bittar's collection truly captures the essence of Pip's observations when he first encounters Miss Havisham.

"She was dressed in rich materials — satins, and lace, and silks — all of white. Her shoes were white. And she had a long white veil dependent from her hair, and she had bridal flowers in her hair, but her hair was white. Some bright jewels sparkled on her neck and on her hands, and some other jewels lay sparkling on the table..."

For those of us who have a hard time deciding which single piece we love the most, the wrist assist tool will show you which bangles work together. Love!

While I may still be searching for the perfect black flats, I do indeed have Great Expectations for the little trinkets I found instead ;)
