Back to our regularly scheduled programming

Hi friends and happy (almost end of) August! Whoa, does time fly! I had no idea my little summer "sabbatical" would turn into two months off from blogging. During that time, I took a step back from the online world, cut out a lot of "optional" activities, and created more time to focus on family and self-care (more on that later!).

Here are the highlights of Summer 2017:

June

In June, we vacationed in Cape Cod and stayed at the same cottage we rented last year near Wellfleet. There were a few cloudy, windy days that allowed us to explore the Wellfleet Wildlife Sanctuary, and we did our annual trek to Nantucket too. We spent my "39-forever" birthday enjoying lunch at the Chatham Bars Inn and then had a celebratory al fresco lobster feast.

July
While the month of June our travels, we spent weekends in July close to home. I treasured my Mommy-Daughter time on Saturdays while the Sailor was, well, sailing! P and I usually started the day with baking cookies, muffins or bread, and then we went on afternoon adventures including the Farmer's Market, Saratoga County Fair, and the Saratoga Racetrack. Sundays were designated family days spent on the beach at the club and boating with Meme and Pep.

August
August was off to a rocky start when Sweet P fell into a bookcase at the Lodge and lost a FRONT tooth! She didn't seem to be in much pain and handled it like a champ (Mom on the other hand...was a different story). The dentist doesn't put it back in due to the fact that it can obstruct and damage the permanent tooth, so P will have a gap toothed grin until the adult tooth grows in several years from now.The Sailor has been busy constructing the Pippa Palace--an early birthday present from Grammie and Pop-Pop that is bigger than we ever imagined.  Last weekend, we spent a long weekend in DC visiting my best friend and her new baby, and we fit in some sight-seeing (zoo, Georgetown and Old Town, Alexandria) too!

Thanks for coming back to visit!
