It's no secret that the Sailor isn't a big fan of tchotchke, as noted here. So decorating for the holidays (other than Christmas) is pretty limited in our house. I did add a few items to our Halloween clutter this year though.
Admittedly, the mini- witch hat, gold glitter skull (affectionately referred to as "Skeletor") and the shiny scaredy cat are a little over the top. But I got (almost) approval of the skeleton candlesticks that the Sailor acknowledged are 'kind of cool.'
After Friday, all of the tacky Halloween junk will beput thrown (?) away, but I've decided that the chevron burlap ribbon, autumn leaves garland and some of the other more natural elements can be incorporated in with traditional autumn decorations for a more Pottery Barn-esque feel to carry us through Thanksgiving.
Happy haunting!
