Yesterday's heavy snowfall started right around the time I headed out to an early morning hot yoga class. By the time I got out of the dimly lit, room heated to 95 degrees, there had to be two to three inches of newly fallen snow! I have been looooving yoga lately, and it felt so good to stretch yesterday. The vinyasa flow "Soulful Sunday"class was taught by a sub-- which could have been disappointing since she focuses on Baptiste style, which is a sequence of poses done in quiet rather than a "soulful flow." (Want to know more about the differences between the styles? Read here) But the teacher was incredible. Because she was out of her zone, it made her really engage. She was big on assists, which pushed me (in a good way) and made a playlist that included everything from jazz to Tim McGraw's Humble and Kind.
And the afternoon was spent playing in the snow with Sweet P and the Sailor, who shoveled a maze for her sled through the backyard.
Afterwards, we (er-- rather I) enjoyed some Superfood Hot Chocolate touted for its immune-boosting ingredients. I made a variation on this recipe using:
2/3 c almond milk
1 1/2 T cocoa
1/2 T honey
1 t coconut oil
1/2 t turmeric
1/2 t cinnamon
The Sailor wasn't into my hot chocolate recipe, which in all honesty, didn't look that appetizing. The turmeric gave the usually deep rich cocoa color it an odd hue of pea green with hints of coconut oil settled on top. But it was surprisingly delicious.
How did you spend your snowy Sunday?
