The Sailor and I spent this past weekend at the Inn at Erlowest, a stone castle on the shores of Lake George. Built in 1898 by a prominent attorney and politician from Brooklyn, the mansion has been lovingly restored by new owners in recent years.

A Cure for a Case of the Mondays
I stumbled upon Julia Ryan's Posh Photography blog while reading Pink Preppy Lilly Lover and just had to share! Julia's photos never fail to bring a smile to my face.

Bibliophile
To add a library to a house is to give that house a soul.
-Marcus Tullius
We've moved boxes of books from apartment to apartment, from basement to attic. They're not the easiest things to move or store, but someday they'll have a permanent place in our home library.
If you had only five books for your library, what would you select?
The Sailor's library classics:
Catcher in the Rye, JD Salinger
Into the Backing: Fly Fishing Guide, Ian Troup
Call of the Wild, Jack London
The Alchemist, Paulo Coelho
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain
Serendipity's library classics:
The Alchemist, Paulo Coelho
To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee
Great Expectations, Charles Dickens
All the Kings Men, Robert Penn Warren
The Greatest Generation, Tom Brokaw

My Vote
Anyone that has been following my blog for any length of time knows that I am passionate about music from the '60's and '70's. I was indeed born in the wrong era.
Much like my affinity for Keith Richards and Neil Diamond, there's a special place in my heart for Rod Stewart. And an even more special place in my heart for Rod's 1971 hit Maggie May. So I was thrilled when the very talented Paul McDonald who rocked it with this rendition on American Idol.
The talent on American Idol this season is amazing - so much better than it's been recently. But he is far and away my favorite. He's just happy being on stage singing, and his joy is contagious!

Just three things...
In the spirit of EAS from Let the Tide Pull Your Dreams Ashore, I'm providing insight into three things I am loving now. It's hard to limit it to just three though!
At the top of the list, always and forever...
At the top of the list, always and forever...
1. In the evenings and on the weekends, I am rarely seen without these on my feet. They keep my toes from freezing between October to April in the tundra.
2. Moisturizing and smells great. Definite necessity in the winter. Naia hand cream from Thymes.
3. The Sailor recently brought this home- Indulgent Trail Mix. A bargain from Walmart. Mmmmm.
"A decadent sweet and savory dream of white chocolatey drops, chocolate drops, peanut butter drops, almonds, peanuts, cashews, golden raisins and cranberries." Totally addictive. Just needs M&M's to make it the perfect snack.
What three things are you loving these days?

Beating Cabin Fever
The Sailor and I headed a couple of hours north to Lake Placid last weekend as a respite from the doldrums of the deep February freeze. We were fortunate to have fresh snow all three days of our mini-vacation, which made our trip all the more magical. The beauty of the winter wonderland made the treacherous drive there worth it.

Style Inspiration: Olivia Palermo
Somehow I missed the whole The City craze a couple of years ago, but I sure noticed Olivia Palermo sitting in the front row in recent London Fashion Week 2011 photos. From Mulberry to Jaeger, she was on the scene, checking out all of the latest trends.
Although she certainly can wear a brand new outfit every day, she has a handful of signature go-to pieces --black pumps, black shorts, neutral clutches and to-die-for leopard ankle boots. Repurposing those items, by mixing and matching, she creates a look that is recognizable yet unique at the same time. Regardless of what she's wearing, Olivia always looks flawless from head to toe!
